The Divine Guides: For Whom the Reappearance Awaits
The Hidden Guides Preparing the World for the Return of Divine Leadership
In Islamic tradition, the concept of a great Reappearance—the return of a divinely appointed savior—is central to eschatology. The Quran and hadith speak of chosen guides (the true "Elites") who prepare humanity for this momentous event. Who are these elect servants of Allah, and how does their role shape our spiritual future?
1. The True Elites: Allah’s Chosen Guides
The Quran does not use the term "Elites," but it describes أولوا الألباب (the people of understanding) and الصالحين (the righteous) as those entrusted with divine wisdom:
"And We made from among them leaders guiding by Our command when they were patient and certain of Our signs." (Quran, Surah As-Sajda, Chapter 32, The Adoration, Verse 24)
Similarly, Bihar al-Anwar narrates that Allah always has His proofs (حجج) on Earth—individuals who preserve true knowledge and guide the Ummah (Bihar al-Anwar, Vol. 23, p. 48). These are not rulers by wealth or force, but by divine appointment.
2. The Reappearance: The Return of Imam Mahdi & Prophet Isa (AS)
The Quran hints at the return of Prophet Isa (Jesus):
"And he (Jesus) shall be a sign for (the coming of) the Hour." (Quran, Sura Az-Zukhruf, Chapter 43, The Embellishment, Verse 61)
Bihar al-Anwar elaborates on Imam Mahdi’s emergence, describing him as the awaited savior who will fill the Earth with justice:
"The Mahdi is from my progeny… He will fill the Earth with equity and justice as it was filled with oppression and tyranny." (Bihar al-Anwar, Vol. 51, p. 74)
This aligns with the idea of a World Teacher—a restorer of divine justice after an age of corruption.
3. The Role of the Faithful in Preparing for the Reappearance
The Quran emphasizes that divine guidance comes to those who strive in righteousness:
"As for those who strive in Our cause, We will surely guide them to Our paths." (Quran, Surah Al-Ankabut, Chapter 29, The Spider, Verse 69)
Bihar al-Anwar further states that true believers must be spiritually prepared for the Mahdi’s advent:
"The most beloved deeds to Allah are awaiting the Relief (Faraj)." (Bihar al-Anwar, Vol. 52, p. 126)
This means cultivating patience, knowledge, and unwavering faith in Allah’s plan.
4. Are We Ready? A Call to Action
The signs of the Last Days—corruption, injustice, and moral decay—are evident today. Yet, the Quran reassures:
"Allah will bring a people whom He will love and who will love Him, humble towards the believers, stern towards the disbelievers." (Quran, Surah Al-Ma’idah, Chapter 5, The Table Spread, Verse 54)
Will we be among those who recognize and support the coming divine order? The choice lies in our sincerity and actions.
Conclusion: Awaiting with Wisdom & Faith
The Reappearance is not a passive waiting but an active preparation—through faith, self-purification, and service to truth. As Bihar al-Anwar states:
"The best worship in the End Times is awaiting the Mahdi." (Bihar al-Anwar, Vol. 52, p. 122)
Let us strive to be among those who are ready when the divine call arrives.
