Becoming a Zainabi

Through the generations, her praises have been sung;
Ali's daughter was never one for history to forget.
Yet there is a world of difference between admiring from afar,
And loving enough to emulate.

How do I truly honour The Witness after the Witness, She who kept the message alive when Karbala had fallen silent?
How do I, in the fullest sense, become a Zainabi?

Must I too face the sword, or stand before a tyrant's court? Or has my own time, my own place, its own battle to be fought?

A path Imam Sajjad teaches through prayer;
A struggle that begins within, where the frontier between truth and falsehood must first be guarded in the heart.

The work before me is not to conquer the world, but to conquer myself.
To loosen the grip of worldly attachment becomes the first act of resistance.

If He alone becomes my vision,
Then, like Zainab, I too may behold nothing but beauty; For every wound endured upon His path carries the fragrance of nearness.

The world is blessed today with many sincere Husseinis, Men and women who answer the call of sacrifice.

Our task now Is to raise Zainabis,
Souls who preserve the truth, Give voice to the oppressed, And ensure that no Karbala Is ever buried by silence.
