Ramadhan Dua: The Anthem of the Sublime

Exalting Divine Grandeur and the Sacred Gift of the Quran

This profound supplication, traditionally recited after every obligatory prayer during Ramadan, serves as a cornerstone of spiritual devotion in the Shia tradition. It begins with a majestic exaltation of Allah’s attributes—addressing Him as the High, the Mighty, and the All-Hearing—before acknowledging the unique sanctity of this blessed month. The prayer beautifully intertwines personal humility with a recognition of Divine favour, specifically commemorating the revelation of the Quran and the unmatched significance of the Night of Power (Laylatul Qadr). Ultimately, it acts as a heartfelt plea for spiritual liberation, asking the Most Merciful for protection from divine punishment and admittance into Paradise.

Translation:

O High, O Mighty, O Forgiver, O Merciful, You are the Mighty Lord, who has none like Him, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing. This is a month which You have exalted, honoured, ennobled and excelled over other months. It is the month in which You made fasting obligatory for me, and it is the month of Ramadan, in which You revealed the Qur’an as guidance for mankind and clear proofs of guidance and discrimination. You have placed the Night of Power (Laylatul Qadr) in it and made it better than a thousand months. O One who favours all and none can favour Him, favour me by saving me from the fire, among those You favour, and admit me into Paradise by Your mercy, O Most Merciful.
